YouTube meet iPhone

Just another reason why YouTube needs to have your brand videos all over it!

Have you checked out the new iPhone at your local Apple store yet? One of the coolest features of the iPhone is the integrated YouTube video app. Apple has teamed up with YouTube to give iPhone users the ability to search through popular YouTube videos and stream them on the iPhone. This is not done through flash or flv, which is what the YouTube website currently uses, but through another format called H.264. This is not a proprietary format so it is reasonable to assume most future cell phones will include the ability to search and stream YouTube videos as well.

I mentioned “popular” videos above because YouTube does not currently have all of their library converted to the format just yet, however they do expect a total conversion and mobile availability of all videos by the fall. If you’re looking for resources on making your video, check out the creating your own videos tutorial.
