Marketing on Myspace with Classifieds

09.06.07 | 2 Comments

Newspaper classified ads are great… if you’re targeting age 50+. Free online classified websites are where you need to be now, and there are tons of them! MySpace marketers can take full advantage of the MySpace classified ads section and open up new possibilities and networks for free.

At a quick glance, one will notice there are many categories throughout the MySpace Classifieds, and each city has its own page. The key to using the Classifieds effectively is to find where your target will be! If you’re targeting video gamers, post an ad under the for sale section in “video games.” If you’re targeting a general audience, package your product/service differently so you can target individual and niche areas. For example, if you’re selling some awesome rock music, you could post in the For Sale section of “bicycles,” do you know how?

Check out the MP3 Player that hooks on to your bike so you can listen to awesome tunes like [insert your band here].

Cool huh? If you spend enough time and put some creativity into it, you could do that for several categories in hundreds of cities! It’s all about creative marketing and finding ways to get your product/service to your target market.

Classifieds haven’t gotten me the results I’ve looked for. Plus, Myspace cracks down on them really hard…especially when it comes to the ‘internet marketing’ niche.

Me, personally…I use myspace for networking and for its free blogs.

If you post relevant content to your myspace blog, and add niche-related friends to your friends list…make sure you also visit your new friend’s blog, and click ‘Invite to My Blog’ underneath their pic.

If they subscribe, then myspace will notify them on their home page whenever you make a blog post.

All I know is that my blog posts to my subscribers pull in more traffic than the classifieds and corny old bulletins.
